Cause for the Paws

Join us at our third annual fundraising event, Cause For the Paws! Enjoy refreshments and hors d'oeuvre from Kalamata Pit with special musical guests, The Riff. We'll have a silent auction along with some incredible raffle prizes-you don't want to miss it. Cause For the Paws is a benefit supporting the lifesaving work of Ark-Valley Humane Society. With over 25 years of serving the homeless pets of Chaffee County, with your help we'll help over 1,000 animals this year. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. ‘Babe’ Showing at the Comanche Drive In Theater

We are hosting another summer movie night fundraiser! Bring your family, friends and canine companions for a night at the drive-in under the stars to benefit AVHS before the summer ends! Babe will be showing at the Comanche Drive-In Theatre on Thursday, August 3rd. Adult tickets are $10 and Child (13 and under) tickets are $5, dogs are free!  You can purchase your tickets today at https://www.ark-valley.org/drive-in/ Dogs welcomed at this event on leash and picked up after.

LaGree’s Pet Food Drive

LaGree's Poncha Springs 10100 US-50, Poncha Springs, CO, United States

LaGree’s Food Stores is hosting two pet food drives at both their Poncha Springs and Buena Vista locations to benefit the animals of Ark-Valley Humane Society.  Pet food donations can be dropped off at LaGree’s Poncha Springs location, 10100 US-50, or their Buena Vista location, 415 US Hwy 24 N. There will be bins to place pet food donations in at the front of each store. The food drive starts this Sunday, September 3rd and runs through Saturday, September 16th.  All types of cat and dog food will be accepted in unopened bags. LaGree’s is graciously matching all donations, pound for pound, with their PAWS house brand pet food!

Moonlight Monday

Moonlight Pizza and Brewpub 242 F St, Salida, United States

Ark-Valley Humane Society will be the beneficiary of Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub’s Moonlight Monday promotion on September 25th. The restaurant at 242 F St in Salida will be donating 10 percent of all sales to AVHS.   We hope you will join us for some delicious pizza and good company on the 25th. You can even bring your furry friends- dogs are allowed on a pet-friendly section of their patio. Proceeds will benefit the life-saving work of Ark-Valley Humane Society.  This will help us serve the homeless pets of Chaffee County and beyond. We offer a myriad of pet-retention services including our community pet food pantry, emergency medical fund, and low-cost spay neuter vouchers.  Find out more about all of our programs and services at ark-valley.org.

Feline & Fido Photo Contest & Fundraiser

Ark-Valley Humane Society (AVHS) is thrilled to announce that its 8th Annual Feline & Fido Photo Contest & Calendar will be returning this year, from Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Nov. 3.  Anyone can enter their photos at www.gogophotocontest.com/avhs. It is $5 per photo submission and $1 to vote (with a $5 minimum). Once a person has entered their pet's photo, they can share the contest with family and friends to garner more votes.  The contestant with the most votes will have their photo featured on the cover of the 2024 AVHS Calendar. Each of the top 12 photos with the most votes will be a featured pet photo for one of the twelve months. All photos submitted will be featured in smaller photos throughout the calendar.

Paws for Thanks: An open house event

Ark-Valley Humane Society (AVHS) is welcoming the public to their second annual Paws for Thanks, an open house event on Sunday November 5th between 12-3PM.  AVHS Board members and staff will be giving guided tours throughout the shelter. Animal snuggles and light refreshments will be provided.  “We’re thrilled to welcome the community back for our second annual open house! We have had some big staffing changes over the past few months and are excited for you to meet our wonderful board and staff team while touring the shelter,” said AVHS Executive Director, Nikki Ritter. Ark-Valley Humane Society is located at 701 Gregg Drive in Buena Vista, Colorado. AVHS is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 12-5PM for pet adoptions, pet cremations, stray intake, owner/guardian surrenders, and more. AVHS serves all of Chaffee County.
