Every day at Ark-Valley Humane Society brings something new.
One day, we may be providing emergency surgery to an injured homeless animal or helping a frightened pet learn to trust again through time, patience, and behavioral support. The next, we may be keeping a beloved pet with the family who loves them through our community assistance programs or responding to an unexpected emergency.
Thanks to the generosity of a dedicated group of local Chaffee County donors, we’re able to launch an August Matching Campaign to help ensure we’re ready for whatever comes next.
Every donation made between August 1st and August 31st will be matched dollar for dollar—up to $20,000, the largest matching campaign goal in Ark-Valley Humane Society’s history!
As the need for our services continues to grow, this record-breaking match comes at a critical time.

This summer has been a powerful reminder of why flexible funding matters.
During the recent Willow Fire, Ark-Valley Humane Society served as an evacuation resource for displaced pets while also welcoming 27 animals into our care. Moments like these remind us that while we can’t predict what challenges lie ahead, we can be prepared to meet them.
With your support, we’ll be ready to provide lifesaving care—no matter what tomorrow brings.
Donate today and your matched gift will help twice as many animals receive the care they deserve.
Donations can be made by filling out the form below, by mailing a check payable to Ark-Valley Humane Society, PO Box 1335, Buena Vista, CO 81211, or by visiting the shelter at 701 Gregg Drive in Buena Vista during business hours. Appointments are required on Sundays and Wednesdays, and walk-ins are welcome every other day from 12:00–5:00pm.
Thank you for making twice the impact for homeless animals this August! Thank you to our generous donors, this campaign would not be not possible without your incredible support!
