Ark-Valley Humane Society Microchipping & Pet ID Tag Services

Free microchip checks: Already have a microchipped pet, or not sure if your pet has a microchip? Bring them in for a free scan! AVHS will do a free check to see if your pet is already microchipped. If they are, we’ll provide you with your pet’s microchip ID number and the company it is registered with so you can update your pet’s microchip as needed.*

Microchipping service ($25): If your pet needs a microchip, we will provide a microchip/microchip insertion to help protect your dog or cat! A microchip is a permanent form of identification that significantly increases the chances of reuniting you with your pet if they ever get lost. AVHS will complete the initial registration for your pet’s new microchip and provide you with information on how to update it in the future!

Pet ID tag engraving services ($6): Pet ID tags allow for immediate identification, meaning someone who finds your pet can contact you directly. This may help your pet be reunited with you sooner and may save them a trip to the shelter for lost pet services.

Why should my pet be microchipped?
Microchips are a safe and effective way to identify your pet. Unlike collars and tags, which can be lost or removed, a microchip is a permanent form of identification. When a lost pet is found, animal shelters and veterinary clinics can scan the microchip to retrieve your contact information and help you bring your pet home safely.

*While AVHS is able to scan your pet for a microchip and provide your with their microchip ID number as well as the company your pet’s microchip is registered with, we are NOT able to update contact information on existing microchips or provide you with the contact information currently on the microchip. Pet owners must update any contact information associated with their pets microchip directly with the microchip company.
