If you have Lost your Pet, please contact the shelter at 719-395-2737 to file a lost report, or fill out the Lost Form above to file a report with us online. Lost reports will show up on our website for one month. After one month, your report will expire. The information you submit in your report will be compared with found animal reports, and we will contact you if a potential match is found. We highly recommend providing us with a photo of your pet as it will highly increase the chances of a match being made if the animal is in our care.
Please note, it is your responsibility to check in with us or come to the shelter to look for your animal. We also recommend to constantly check our Found Animal reports at https://www.ark-valley.org/
AVHS holds found stray animals for five days. If not reclaimed within the five day stray hold period, AVHS becomes the legal owner of the animal.
If your pet is brought into the shelter as a stray, you will be required to pay impound fees to reclaim your pet. Fees can vary greatly depending on how long your animal has been here. State law requires that all dogs and cats are currently vaccinated against rabies with documented proof. If your animal is not current on rabies, you will have to purchase a $30 rabies vaccine voucher through us at the time of reclaim.
