Black Pu-r-r-r-r-ls Are Special: Because so many shelters have difficulty adopting black cats and dogs, they are often the first to be "cut from the inventory" and put to sleep to make room for other, more desirable colors but the Ark-Valley Humane Society believes that each animal available for adoption is a one-of-a kind "gem" to be treasured for their unique p-u-r-r-sonalities and the limitless and unconditional love they all have to give to a family. We're discounting adoption fees on black cats (and dogs) until our
February Adopt-A-Thon,Saturday, February 13th.
On THAT day, we'll sponsor adoption fees for ALL pets adopted at the shelter that day through our Pet Placement Program! But why wait? That special pet you've been looking for might already be here just waiting for you to arrive!

The Great Feline Fix is coming! If you are a Chaffee County resident and the proud guardian of a cat (or two or more!) join us in our goal to get 100 felines fixed! Every year, shelters across the country grapple with balooning cat populations, mostly due to unwanted litters of kittens. We're trying to get "ahead of the curve" before spring so stop by the Ark-Valley Humane Society in Buena Vista or Pakmail in Salida to get your $50 coupon for spaying or neutering your feline friends. Participating vets in our community "WOW, 100!?!"
will accept appointments for Saturday, February 27th to help us reach our goal! Watch here for more details!
